1、Every now and then, we like to look off the sides of the Pocket Gamer mothership to see if anyone else appreciates mobile games as much as we do.Usually, there isn't that much love for our pocket-sized play things to shout or cheer about. Apparently, a lot of people look down on mobile games. But, as these games get better with every passing year, more people and publications are sharing in our love for them. This is why we'd like to take a moment to celebrate the fact that both TIME magazine and Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima picked a mobile game as their game of the year. For TIME, the number one spot in its "Top 10 Video Games of 2014" belonged to the Gold Award-winning 80 Days. Much deserved, as we called it a " sharp, wonderfully written adventure" in our review. Also representing mobile and handheld gaming in TIME's list are Velocity 2X, Shovel Knight, Monument Valley, and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft."Without any doubt"As for Kojima, he revealed his game of the year via Twitter - how modern of him."Played "FRAMED" by L[o]veshack. High sense of gameplay, graphic, & sound. My best game in this year without any doubt," reads Kojima's tweet. So yes, Loveshack's Gold Award-winning Framed is Kojima's game of 2014. Pretty impressive, don't you think? Now, obviously, all of Pocket Gamer's top picks of the year are going to be handheld and mobile games, as that's what we deal in.The question is whether, out of all the games released this year, you'll pick any mobile games as your favourites. Well?If you missed out when WayForward made Shantae: Risky's Revenge free for a short time back in 2013, you have another chance.Yep, it's free once again for a limited time on iOS. This is a Silver Award-winning hair-whipping action adventure ported over from Nintendo DS. So get it quick if that sounds good to you.You play as the half-genie Shantae as she takes on lady pirate Risky Boots in an effort to rescue Sequin Land from certain doom. She shakes her hips to transform into powerful creatures, saves golden babies, and brews zombie coffee. She's a pretty great character, in other words.
2、fantasy Paladin Legend(DEMO)Nintendo has started to hand out software kits for its upcoming NX platform to developers. These kits allow developers to begin work on ports of existing games for the NX or to create entirely new ones. That Nintendo is handing them out suggests that the NX could come out as early as next year. This news coms from The Wall Street Journal, who also has new reports from people familiar with the NX's development plans. They have apparently said that the NX will "likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use."This falls in line with what speculators have previously said the NX platform would function as - a crossover between console and mobile device.Eurogamer points out that a separate mobile unit fits in line with a recent patent Nintendo made for a touchscreen-based controller with shoulder scroll wheels. The Wall Street Journal's sources also said that the NX will use "industry-leading chips" to bring it up to modern technological standards. Something that the Wii U lacked.More details on the NX aren't expected from Nintendo until 2016. And do bear in mind that all this is rumour for now.
